John Luna is an artist, writer and teacher whose practice includes painting, collage, sculpture, poetry and critical writing. His artwork and performance, including public readings and lectures, painting, collage, stencils, sculpture and drawing, have been exhibited primarily on the west coast of Canada and the United States. He has published poetry, catalogue essays and criticism in Canada, The United States, Australia, The Netherlands, and Indonesia. He is a founding faculty member of the Vancouver Island School of Art (2004-) and the Slide Room Gallery (2006-) in Victoria, British Columbia. He has taught at the Vancouver Island School of Art, the University of Victoria, the University of Lethbridge, the University of Calgary, the Metchosin International Summer School of the Arts, The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria and Camosun College. His first collection of poetry, Listing, was published by Decoupage in 2015, and he was recently shortlisted for the Robert Kroetsch Award for Innovative Poetry (2017). He currently resides in Shawnigan Lake, British Columbia, and is on the teaching faculty of Brentwood College School and a regular guest instructor at the Vancouver Island School of Art. John Luna is married to Julie Luna; they have three children.
